Publication requirement: Business operator details, service arrangements, retention and insurance terms must be reviewed and completed before going live. This is a UK-focused template, not legal advice.
This page is an informational guide and an optional cancellation notice template for consumers. The actual statutory rights depend on the type of contract and booking date, and any contractual cancellation charges must be fair and disclosed before agreement.
When a cooling-off right may apply
For property maintenance, whether the 14-day cancellation right applies and whether charges for work started at the customer’s express request are due depends on the contract and relevant consumer legislation. Urgent repairs may have different rules. Any applicable statutory rights must be explained before confirmation.
Many distance or off-premises service contracts provide a 14-day right to cancel, subject to the applicable Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 provisions. However, regulation 28(1)(h) excludes certain transport-of-goods contracts providing a specific date or period of performance from the statutory cooling-off regime. Booking confirmations must identify which rules apply in your circumstances; this general page does not override statutory rights.
How to notify a cancellation
Send a clear written statement to the trader using the verified business contact details supplied in your booking documents. Include your name, booking reference, agreed service date and date you are giving notice. Keep a copy for your records.
Optional cancellation notice template
The model notice is optional: any clear statement of the intention to cancel is sufficient where statutory cancellation rights apply. The business must confirm receipt when legally required. For any disagreement about charges or statutory rights, refer to the individual confirmed booking and Terms and Conditions.
